“I can’t thank you enough for your coaching and leadership during Worlds. Thank you for all the expertise you imparted. I knew the training would be extraordinary. I am forever grateful.”✦“Thank you so much for everything you have done for my son and for being part of this success! Next year he will kill it!”✦

Terms of Service

Effective September 4, 2026. These terms govern wesailbetter.com, Sail Better coaching programmes, and the Sail Better regatta platform.

1. Who We Are

wesailbetter.com (“Sail Better”, “we”, “us”) is operated by Sailbetter LLC. We provide sailing coaching (clinics, camps, regatta coaching, private and virtual coaching), a store for coaching sessions and programmes, and a regatta platform on which yacht clubs and organizers (“Hosts”) run regattas and sailors and parents (“Entrants”) register and pay entry fees. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

2. Accounts

You may browse and register without an account. Creating an account requires a valid email address, which we verify by code. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. A parent or guardian must create the account and complete registrations for any sailor under 18.

3. Coaching Registrations and Payments

  • Coaching prices, deposits, installment schedules, and what is included are stated on each event page. Balances are due by the dates shown, normally 14 days before the event starts.
  • All payments are one-time payments. We never enroll anyone in a recurring subscription.
  • Card payments are processed by Stripe. A 3% card processing charge is added to card payments and is not charged on bank transfers or other offline payments.
  • Cancellation and refund terms for coaching are stated on the event page. Where an event page states none, deposits are non-refundable and balances paid are refundable less costs already committed on your behalf, at our discretion.
  • We may cancel or reschedule an event for weather, safety, or insufficient enrollment. If we cancel, you receive a full refund of amounts paid to us for that event.

4. The Regatta Platform: Hosts

  • A Host creates and manages its regatta on the platform and is solely responsible for running the event: race management, safety, insurance, permits, sailing instructions, equipment, protests, and the accuracy of everything it publishes (notice board, documents, fees, results).
  • Sail Better collects entry fees paid by card on the Host’s behalf and pays them out to the Host less the platform fee below. Entry fees collected offline by the Host belong to the Host; the platform fee on those entries is settled with the payout.
  • Platform fee: 2% of each paid entry under $250, 1.25% of each paid entry of $250 or more, capped at $5 per entry. Free entries carry no fee. Card processing is paid by the Entrant and is not charged to the Host.
  • Payouts: Sail Better pays the net amount to the Host by bank transfer or Wise, normally within 14 days after the regatta ends, or at milestones agreed in writing for larger events. Payouts require valid bank details from the Host. Every payout is recorded on the Host’s statement.
  • The Host sets its own entry cancellation and refund policy and must state it in the regatta’s registration notes. Refunds of card entries are processed by Sail Better on the Host’s written instruction and deducted from the Host’s payout. The platform fee on a refunded entry is refunded when the Entrant is refunded in full within 30 days of payment.
  • The Host must have the legal right to use any image, document, or text it uploads, and must not collect more personal data from Entrants than the event requires.
  • We may unpublish or remove a regatta that is fraudulent, unsafe, unlawful, or in breach of these terms.

5. The Regatta Platform: Entrants

  • By registering, you enter into an agreement with the Host for participation in its regatta. Sail Better is the platform and payment collector, not the organizer of the event.
  • Entry fees, classes, deadlines, and the Host’s refund policy are shown on the regatta page and registration form. Where a Host requires a liability waiver, you (or the parent or guardian of a sailor under 18) must agree to it to register; your typed name and the time of agreement are recorded.
  • Sailing is an activity with inherent risks. Participation in any regatta is at the Entrant’s own risk and subject to the Host’s waiver, sailing instructions, and the Racing Rules of Sailing.
  • Information you enter appears on the public entry list and results only as described in our Privacy Policy (name, class, sail number, boat name, club). Contact, emergency, parent, and medical details are shown only to the Host and Sail Better.

6. Results and Content

Results are entered and published by the Host and may be corrected at any time. Sail Better keeps completed regattas and their results online as a public archive. Content you provide (names, boat details, documents, images) may be displayed on the site for that purpose. You keep ownership of your content and grant us a licence to display it on the platform.

7. Acceptable Use

Do not use the site to enter false information, impersonate others, interfere with other users’ entries, attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours, or upload unlawful, infringing, or harmful content. We may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

8. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

The site is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we are not responsible for the conduct of Hosts, the running of any regatta, or injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in coaching or racing, except where caused by our own negligence and to the extent the law does not allow such liability to be excluded. Our total liability to you for any claim connected with the site is limited to the amounts you paid to us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms. The effective date at the top changes when we do, and continued use of the site after that date is acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes affecting Hosts with published regattas are communicated by email.

10. Governing Law and Contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Sailbetter LLC is organized, and disputes are subject to the courts of that jurisdiction. Questions about these terms: niels@wesailbetter.com.
